Kankavali

Our journey began with the tryout of the new, much talked of train, Tejas'. Boarded at Dadar, and saw the improved designs and interiors of the trains that came before ours. Namely, the JanShatabdi and Indryani express. I was impressed with what I saw. Eagerly waiting for our 02119, now the 22119- changed number configuration of the Indian Rail train numbering system, as the announcements shouted aloud.

The train arrived a few mins post 6am, 2mins behind her scheduled time of arrival. The excitement of my son, knew no bounds, eager to board and take the sought after, Window" seat. And lo and behold! found one for himself. We settled well, with our luggage and before we said Presto', the train moved to its next destination station- Thane'. Minus the 'Agla Station' announcement. The train surprisingly was devoid of the Chai waley, chaiwaley, paani, neer, neer walkabouts from in house vendors, which was a fresh change!

The scheduled stops were less, compared to the other trains, I've been on the same route! It's quickly paced through the stations along the Konkan Railways, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, and Kudal. We arrived at our destination, Kudal. Jaadu Kaaka, our ever young and effervescent driver, drove us from Kudal station to Kankavali, our final destination! Crossed the newly made NH66 highway with broad lanes and bridges across smaller towns along the way, but scenic and lush green after the unseasonal November rains.

Arrivé at our bro in laws house, enjoying the hospitality of our hosts.
